Accessibility Statement
Validly is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.
Our Commitment
In an ecosystem defined by velocity, we prioritize validity. Accessibility is a fundamental component of truth. If information is locked behind inaccessible barriers, it cannot be verified.
Validly operates at the intersection of media criticism and data science. We believe that the architecture of our platform must reflect the clarity and rigor we demand of the media we analyze. We adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA to ensure our digital archive is usable by the widest possible audience, including those relying on assistive technologies.
WCAG 2.1 AA Standards
Our platform is designed and developed to meet the Level AA Success Criteria of the WCAG 2.1 guidelines. This ensures content is Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust.
Screen Reader Compatibility
We utilize semantic HTML5 markup and ARIA landmarks to ensure screen readers (such as JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver) can accurately interpret page structure, navigation menus, and data tables.
Font Scaling & Contrast
All text on Validly supports browser-level zoom up to 200% without loss of content or function. Our color palette is rigorously tested to meet a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1.
Technical Implementation
We employ a clinical approach to code, mirroring our approach to journalism.
Our development team integrates accessibility testing into every stage of the design and build process. This includes automated testing using tools like Axe and Lighthouse, as well as manual testing with actual assistive technologies. We prioritize keyboard navigability, ensuring that all interactive elements—buttons, links, and form inputs—are accessible via the Tab key and clearly indicated by focus states.
Feedback & Reporting
We strive to provide an accessible experience. If you encounter barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please contact our accessibility team directly.
